I first noted Denise Tepler when she published a weekly column giving interesting cooking recipes in a local newspaper. I’m not sure where/when we actually met, but I have always been impressed with her intelligence and care for others.
I remember much more vividly her interactions as Vice-Chair of the Topsham Finance Committee when the subject of continuing the 24 hour Emergency Services offered by the Topsham Fire Department appeared on the agenda. The subject arose in a couple of Town Meetings of the Topsham Board of Selectmen in 2013, and the Board’s initial sentiments appeared at the time to be in favor of reducing the services.
I remember talking with Denise after the first such meeting, and found her strongly in favor of continuing this vital service. I live in The Highlands, and before that in Highland Green. I have had two heart attacks and have a pacemaker. There is a large and expanding number of elderly permanent residents moving into local housing in Topsham, who may, like me, someday need a rapid medical response. Fortunately a Town Meeting at Mt. Ararat High School solved the problem and continuing the service was strongly voted in.
Please join me in voting for Denise Tepler on November 4 for State House Representative, District 54 (Topsham). She will be a great asset for our community and for Maine.
