WILTON (AP) — Maine game wardens say a Farmington man drowned after jumping from a pontoon boat into Wilton Lake.
Wardens say a friend in the boat and two kayakers removed 63-year-old Jeffrey Mitchell from the water, but he was pronounced dead by medical personnel at a nearby boat landing.
Wardens say the boat had life jackets but that Mitchell wasn’t wearing one when he decided to go swimming late Tuesday afternoon. The incident remains under investigation.
