AUGUSTA (AP) — A 33- year-old Massachusetts man awaiting trial on charges of murdering a Maine man has been charged with assaulting a corrections officer.
David Brian Silva has been charged with assault on an officer, aggravated criminal mischief and terrorizing. An affidavit cited by the Kennebec Journal says Silva hit a guard in the chest with his head on Thursday and told another he was going to kill him before smearing his feces throughout his cell.
Silva is charged with killing 53-year-old Robert Orr in February 2011 and setting the fire to his Readfield home to cover up the shooting. He’s also charged with stealing Orr’s pickup truck, firearms and other items.
Silva and his girlfriend had been living in Orr’s home for several weeks before the killing.
