THE RUN FOR THE FALLEN MAINE 5K was held at the former Brunswick Naval Air Station (Brunswick Landing) on Sunday. Music, inspirational words and a pre-run ceremony were held before the runners headed out for the 5K. In the photos, clockwise from the top, here is the start of the race; an American flag gently sways in the wind; overall 5K winner Nathan Alsobrook of Brunswick, who finished in 18:10, completes the final straightaway; female winner Micaela Ashby of Brunswick shows her form, completing the course in 21:43; Michael Griffin (410) and Randy Spencer, both of Yarmouth, finished second and third, respectively; Will Shaughnessy, a 12-year-old from Brunswick, makes his final kick; and female runner-up Jennifer Mercier of New Gloucester.
