• Buses take much longer to stop than cars, so drivers shouldn’t pull out in front. • Always stuck behind a bus? The buses are on a consistent schedule, so leave five minutes earlier or later to avoid the bus. • Buses have an eight-light system. Yellow means caution, and is activated 100 feet before a stop. While stopped, the door opens and the flashing red lights are on, so all traffic must stop before crossing the bus’ bumper in either direction (after lights are off). • Motorists must stop whether on the roadway, school yard or parking lot — it’s the law. • Kids are expected to show classroom behavior when riding. • Students should stand away from the road and wait for signal to enter bus.
