THE FREEPORT HOUSING TRUST (FHT) had a grand opening of its new 25-unit complex of senior housing late last month. The three-story “Oak Leaf 2” senior housing facility, at 24 South St., was built with $3 million in financing from Bath Savings Institution, $4.1 million in permanent equity from the Northern New England Housing Investment fund. At the time of the facility’s grand opening in June, FHT executive director Jim Hatch said the facility already had six units occupied and 19 applications pending. FHT now manages 209 units of affordable housing.
