FALMOUTH — Christopher Swift finished off his wire-to-wire win in the New England Amateur Golf Championship at Falmouth Country Club on Thursday.
In the final day, 36-hold finish, Swift fired a 72-73 to end his four rounds at 282. The Connecticut native was the only golfer in the field to finish under par (2-under), winning the event by five strokes over the threesome of Garren Poirier of Vermont, New Hampshire’s Jake Nutter and Herbin Aikens of Massachusetts.
The top Maine finisher was John Hayes IV of Scarborough, who closed with a final round 68. He was six shots behind Swift, tied for fifth place with Colin Brennan of Massachusetts.
Judd Parsons of York was 10th at 292, while Maine Amateur champion Seth Sweet of Madison was 14th at 295.
