BATH — Ernesto Jose’ Silva Jr., 53, resident of Lincoln Street in Bath, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick. He was born on Oct. 1, 1960, in Brooklyn, NY, a son of Ernesto Jose’ and Sonia I. (Crespo) Silva Sr. He was educated in New York schools. He received a bachelor’s degree from St. John University and was working on his master’s degree at NYU.

On March 20, 1990, Ernesto married Patricia M. Costa and they have shared 24 years of marriage.

Ernesto worked for many years in New York for the Administration for Children’s Services and had also ran for state Senator in New York. He moved to Bath in 2006 and was employed by the Department of Health and Human Services as a case worker at Sky High in Topsham.

He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Bath, was a member of the Knights of Columbus in New York as well as in Bath. He enjoyed reading books, loved old movies, history and was always involved in politics.

Survivors include his parents of Queens, NY, his beloved wife Patricia Silva of Bath, two daughters, Kaitlin E. Silva and Savannah M. Silva, both of Bath, a brother, Orlando David Silva and his wife Lisa of Brooklyn, NY, a sister, Sonia A. Silva of Brooklyn, NY, a daughter- i n – l aw, Tealia Silva of Bath, two godsons, Orlando Silva and Justin Crespo, nieces, Isabella, Sabrina, Tabatha, Crystol, Melissa and Jennifer, nephews, Ryan, Mathew, Jeremy and many other nieces and nephews, all loved.

Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High St., Bath, ME. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, in St. Mary’s Church, 144 Lincoln St., Bath.
