BATH — The Long Reach Swim Club recently held the Summer Sprint Meet at the Bath Area Family YMCA, with several records set.
Caitlin Tycz set a mark in the 200 IM in 2:14.48, breaking the record held by Sonia Lin at 2:17.03. She also broke Jessica Russell’s time in the 400 IM in 4:56.21.
Other records established by Tycz were the 100 IM (1:01.48), and 100 backstroke (58.82, the first time an athlete 12 or younger broke the one-minute barrier).
Lin, swimming in the girls 13-14 age group, broke a record in the 25 breaststroke, touching in a pool record 13.86. In the 50 breaststroke, her time of 30.68 was also a pool and team record, while her 100 IM of 1:00.71 established a pool and team mark.
In the boys meet, Nate Samson set records in the 50 backstroke (25.32) and 100 IM (57.59), marks held by current Indiana University standout James Wells.
Hannah Homans of Coastal Maine Aquatics set a pool record in the 50 backstroke in 28.08.
Next for LRSC is a trip to St. Johns, New Brunswick Canada to defend its Maine LCM Championship July 19-21.
