The Trenton Thunder (63-40) struck for a season-high eight runs in the sixth inning and clubbed their way to a 15-4 Eastern League baseball win over the Portland Sea Dogs (37- 65) on Tuesday night at Hadlock Field.

With the game tied 1-1 entering the sixth, Trenton strung together six straight hits to begin the inning off of Taylor Grover (1-3) and take a 5-1 lead. Trenton sent 13 men to the plate in the inning and Cito Culver had two hits and four RBIs in the frame. The Thunder tied a season-high with seven hits in the inning.

Trenton set season highs with 15 runs on 18 hits. The Thunder also tied a season-high with nine walks and had one hit batsman to total 28 baserunners.

Yoan Moncada hit a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth off of Chance Adams (6-0) to plate the second Sea Dogs’ run. Later in the inning, Nate Freiman hit an RBI single to score Mauricio Dubon and cut the deficit to 9-3. Adams allowed two earned runs on three hits in 5 1/3 innings, walking two and striking out three.

The Thunder added three more runs in the seventh off of Austin Maddox to extend the lead to 12-3. Mark Payton hit a three-run homer in the ninth off of Luis Ysla to make it 15-3.

Cole Sturgeon homered in the bottom of the ninth off of Cale Coshow to plate the fourth Sea Dogs run.

The final game of the three-game series was to start at noon today.
