BRUNSWICK — American Legion Post 20 of Brunswick and its members received honors at a ceremony Sunday at Post 202 in Topsham.

Anthony Jordan, past national commander of the American Legion, presented a Past National Commanders Leadership award to Jorge Maderal, immediate past commander of Post 20. The award cited Maderal for his “outstanding contributions in leadership, guiding Post 20 to many distinguished awards, including the national post excellence,” according to an American Legion release.

State Adjutant Lloyd Woods recognized Joe Donahue, Post 20’s Americanism officer, with the Maine Recruiter of the Year award. Donahue signed up 16 new members and five transfers from other posts.

Woods also gave the state’s Post Participation award to Post 20 Cmdr. Dan Lindsley.

Post 20 continues to formulate plans to participate in patriotic events, community service, youth activities and assistance for veterans and their families.
