BRUNSWICK — Sometimes a soft teddy bear can be very comforting to a child experiencing pain in an unusual environment like an emergency room.

To that end, junior volunteers at Mid Coast Hospital are sponsoring their annual Teddy Bear Bake Sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 5 in the Mid Coast Hospital Café Corridor, 123 Medical Center Drive. Proceeds benefit the Teddy Bear Club of the Mid Coast Hospital Auxiliary, which provides stuffed animals for pediatric patients experiencing trauma.

Donations to the bake sale are welcomed and may be left in the hospital volunteer office 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 4. Junior volunteers will wrap and put teddy bear tags on all baked goods, which will be ready for gift giving, too.

“This is an another example of the wonderful way the juniors are helping our young patients have a positive experience while at the hospital,” said Brooke Lancaster, junior volunteer coordinator.

Nearly 50 juniors are volunteering at the hospital this summer.
