To the editor:
Maine stands on the threshold of once again being a leader in U.S. politics. As our motto, “Dirigo,” states, it is time for us to take the lead in getting Washington back to work by electing an independent, Angus King, to the U.S. Senate.
What the Senate needs is listeners and visionaries who are willing to take the best ideas and try to make them happen, regardless of which party the ideas came from. I know Angus King can do this.
As we all know, he is someone who knows what this country needs to do to move forward and away from the contentious attitude of “my way or the highway” on both sides of the aisle.
I do not have any illusions that Angus King will solve all of Washington’s ills overnight, but a change in gridlock will only come about one small step at a time.
I know Angus King will run a positive campaign without influence from big money super PACs. Nor will he be influenced by big money lobbyists after his election.
The opportunity to elect a common sense legislator this fall, versus another politico, is ours to take. I urge all Mainers to grasp this opportunity to lead and elect Angus King to the Senate this fall.
