BIDDEFORD (AP) — The Coast Guard has suspended its search for a swimmer who was reported to have gone missing near a beach and rocky point in Biddeford, Maine.
The Coast Guard says a witness reported around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday that a man had entered the water at Biddeford Pool and swam for about 15 minutes before disappearing from view.
Boats and a helicopter were used in the search efforts, and other agencies assisted.
Officials suspended the search after about five hours of scouring the area, pending further developments.
The Coast Guard says no substantial leads have been found, and there are no reports of a missing person in the area.
