In response to the demeaning letter titled “Think Twice about Michaud as Governor” (Times Record, July 14) by Walter Eno of Scarborough, I say think again!
During my eight years in the Maine House, I often saw Michaud leaving the Senate late, having worked, when most of us left.
Even as a former Woods worker, he helped stop clear-cutting. He always stood up for our war veterans, more jobs and our environment.
By the way, do people have to have a college degree to be a good public servant as governor? Over the years, his experience, knowledge gained, care for life and public service, ought to give Mike Michaud a medal — and maybe an honorary Ph.D. degree.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
