BRUNSWICK — A Downeaster train that makes afternoon stops in Freeport and Brunswick will be canceled both Thursday and Friday. Train 681 is normally scheduled to stop in Freeport at 12:10 p.m. before terminating in Brunswick at 12:25.
The cancellation is due to maintenance undertaken on track owned by Pam Am Railways.
Track maintenance, along with Downeaster delays and cancellations, has been ongoing since the spring thaw.
No alternate transportation will be available for the canceled trains.
Several other trains that run between Boston and Portland have also been canceled this week. For a complete listing, go to www.amtrakdowneaster.com.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
