SOUTH PARIS
The Highland Green American Legion Zone 2 baseball team dropped a Saturday doubleheader to Bessey Motors on Saturday, falling 7-3 in the opener and 3- 2 in the nightcap.
In the first game, Bessey Motors struck for its seven runs over in innings 3-5. Janek Lushka and Bailey West had two singles each in the win, while Blake Slicer and Brady LaFrance combined to allow six hits and 10 walks with eight strikeouts.
Ryan Glass singled twice for Highland Green ( 2- 5, while Andrew Kapocius doubled. Kaileb Hawkes and Harper Moutal combined on the mound on 10 hits, one strikeouts and three walks.
In the second game, Alex Larson singled in a pair of runs, but Highland Green managed just two hits in the one-run loss.
Glass singled and went the distance on eight hits and one strikeout.
LaFrance doubled and tripled for Bessey, with West tossing a two-hitter with four strikeouts and four walks.
Thursday win
Highland Green earned its second win, out-scoring Gardiner 12- 9 on Thursday.
Moutal’s bad-hop double led the way in the win, while Garrett Moody singled twice, Hawkes doubled and Hunter Lohr singled.
Larson and Moutal combined on an eight-hitter with eight strikeouts and four walks.
Nick Sanborn led Gardiner with three hits, including a triple.
Highland Green visits Pastime Club at Lewiston High School on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
