CUMBERLAND — Brunswick’s Ruth Appleyard had a net score of 68 to win the Southern Maine Women’s Golf Association event at Val Halla Golf and Recreation Center on Tuesday.

Appleyard was five shots clear of runner-up Sylvia Leblanc in the A- 3 Division.

Terry Karkos and Nancy Fournier, both from Brunswick, finished second in their respective divisions. Karkos shot a net score of 70 in the A- 1 Division, five strokes behind winner Anne Deming of Portland.

Fournier’s gross score of 88 was four shots behind A-2 Division winner Leesa Smith of Poland.

Also in B-3 Division play, Kim Millick of Toddy Brook Golf Course took first with a net score of 75.
