FAIRFIELD — The Mt. Ararat High School softball team closed out the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference regular season on a high note with a 6-3 win over Lawrence.
The Eagles are now 7-9, ranked ninth in Eastern Maine Class A and are scheduled to visit No. 8 Hampden Academy Tuesday in an Eastern A prelim.
On Wednesday, the Eagles scored three runs in the top of the seventh to go up 6-2. Lawrence had runners on first and third when the final out was recorded in the bottom of the seventh.
Kim Leslie picked up the mound win with two strikeouts and four walks, while losing pitcher Sarah Martin had two strikeouts and three walks.
In the Eagles’ 12-hit attack, Taylor Pare had three singles, a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored, while Shauna Williams singled and doubled with two runs scored, and Jodie Curley chipped in with three singles.
Curley was also a defensive standout with six putouts and three assists.
Sophie Lindsey had a single, double and home run for the host Bulldogs.

At Readfield, Sarah Boynton struck out 15 to lead the Black Bears (12-4) to a KVAC Class B win in both teams regular-season finale.
Jacelyn McNeill pitched for the Shipbuilders, walking two, allowing five hits and striking out one.
Boynton helped her own cause, lifting a two-run home run and adding an RBI triple. Elise Linton singled twice, while Mariah Vining added a single.
Katie Henrikson paced Morse (3-13) with two singles and three stolen bases. Nichole Laggan and Niesa Ryder each singled. The Shipbuilders left 12 runners on base, including two times with the bases loaded.
“This was a strong group of dedicated young women that gave 100 percent and did not ever give up,” said Morse coach Will Laffely.

The host Cougars (2-14) scored five runs on just four hits in turning away the Dragons in KVAC action at Farmington.
Rachel Moroney pitched well for Brunswick (1-15), while Jena Libby was 2-for-3 at the plate. Mel Bryant and Ashley Howe had one hit each for the Dragons.
Kelly Bridges, Leah Andreotti and Moroney played well for Brunswick.
