AUGUSTA — Fishing in rivers and streams across the state will be free Saturday and Sunday, .

According to a press release from the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, any person may fish in the state without a license, unless they have had their license revoked or suspended.

All other rules, including bag and possession limits, still apply.

“It’s our hope that families would take advantage of this weekend, and take advantage of what Maine has to offer,” said Andrea Erskine, deputy commissioner of the DIFW, in the press release. “We are looking for future anglers to carry on the tradition.”

Licenses for the rest of the year and more information can be found at www.maine.gov/ifw.
