Constance graduated from South Portland High School. For the past decade, she trained, learned and practiced Shamanic healing. Her connections to the Shamanic community occupied much of her time, when she was not caring for her three granddaughters. Much of her last five years were spent providing love and care to her grandchildren, who much like the rest of her family and friends, truly loved her.
Constance will be remembered for her grace, kindness to others, appreciation for nature and desire to spend time with those she loved.
She leaves behind her devoted life partner, Steven Roy. A daughter, Allison Munsey Cosgrove, her husband, Michael and three g randdaughters, Sadie, Lucy and Molly of Woolwich, ME. A son, Zachary Merrill Canning of Bath, ME. Her sister Deborah (Merrill) Ireland of Brunswick, ME, a sister, Margaret (Merrill) Carmichael of South Portland and is predeceased by a sister, Mary (Merrill) Brooke.
A Spiritual Service will be held at the United Church of Christ located at 150 Congress Ave. in Bath, ME on July 1, 2014, at 10 a.m. Her final place of rest will be Morningside Cemetery in Phippsburg, ME.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
You can read more here about our commenting policy and terms of use. More information is also found on our FAQs.
