LISBON FALLS — Jessica Dirago struck out 13 Lisbon hitters as the Telstar High School softball team held on for a 5-4 Mountain Valley Conference victory on Monday.

The Greyhounds, 7-4 and slated to visit undefeated Monmouth on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m., trailed 5-0 after five innings, but rallied with a single run in the sixth and three more in the seventh before coming up short.

Lisbon pitcher Kimber Morse struck out nine, walked five and permitted six hits. At the plate, Olivia Harrington and Chantal Bisson each had two hits. Arianna Kahler singled in a run.

Dirago doubled twice and picked up an RBI for Telstar (6-5), while Rachel Wheeler was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles. Tasha Faranem singled in two runs.

The host Rams ripped four home runs in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win at Augusta.

Arika Brochu went deep twice for undefeated Cony (12- 0), while Nicole Rugan and Sonja Morse each hit a home run. Morse pitched a no-hitter.

Melanie Bryant, Rachel Moroney and Leah Andreotti played well for 1-12 Brunswick, which hosts Oxford Hills in its home finale on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

The host Falcons scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but came up just short in a Western Maine Conference setback against Falmouth.

Freeport fell to 6-8 and visits Yarmouth on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Amanda Carver struck out seven for Falmouth (7-6).

Andrea Grant’s two-run double brought Freeport to within a run. Leigh Wyman singled twice and pitched, permitting six hits and one walk, with six strikeouts.

In South Paris, Erskine built up an 8-0 lead after three innings and toppled the 3-9 Eagles.

In the 12-hit Mt. Ararat effort, Shauna Williams had two singles and a double, and Emily Dunn, Taylor Pare and Mallory Nelson two singles each.

Ashley Green paced Erskine with two singles and two RBIs.

Mt. Ararat pitcher Kim Leslie had four walks and no strikeouts. The Eagles are scheduled to host Edward Little on Wednesday.
