BOWDOIN — William D. Van Meter II, 67, of the Adams Road, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at his home.

He was born on Dec. 24, 1946, in Weymouth, Mass., the son of Kenneth and Flora Van Meter Sr.

Bill proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He worked at Bath Iron Works as a ship fitter for over 23 years.

He enjoyed camping, hunting, reading, debating politics, conspiracy theories, and working on projects on his home. Bill was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Massachusetts.

Bill was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Yvonne Van Meter of Bowdoin, daughters Lisa Stewart and husband John of Bowdoin, Diana Van Meter of Bath, brothers Kenneth Van Meter Jr. and wife Virginia of Massachusetts, Robert Van Meter and wife Diane of Massachusetts, mother-in-law Viola Risio of Massachusetts, grandchildren Devon Van Meter, Colby Brown, Joshua Stewart, Kyrah Brown, Chloe Brown, Sarah Stewart, Lauren Stewart and many other extended family.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, June 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kincer Funeral Home. A graveside service will take place at Richmond Cemetery on Saturday, June 14 at 1 p.m. with a gathering to follow at his home.

Arrangements are under the care of Kincer Funeral Home, 130 Pleasant St., Richmond.
