FREEPORT — Betty Lou O’Hara, 80, resident of Lower Flying Point Road in Freeport, died Saturday, June 7, 2014, at her residence following a long illness. She was born Jan. 26, 1934, in Skowhegan to James and Cecelia (Lessard) Tilley. She attended schools in Hallowell and married Beverly Fred O’Hara on Jan. 28, 1956, in Hallowell.

After raising a family of five children into their teen years, Betty began working a L.L. Bean retiring in 1996.

Her passions in life were her family and baking for them, which gave her much pleasure. She loved her beloved kitty “Misty” and also enjoyed watching birds and tending to her gardens always brought a smile to her face.

She was predeceased by her husband who died on Jan. 28, 2014, which was their 58th wedding anniversary. She was also predeceased by a daughter Susan Tilton, her grandson Peter Jordan and a granddaughter Ava O’Hara.

Survivors include four children, Lynne and her husband Geoff Lachance, Sally and her husband George Cossaboom, Michael O’Hara, Scott and his wife Stephannie O’Hara, two sisters, Barbara Beaudoin and Nancy McLaughlin, 12 grandchildren and 4 greatgrandchildren whom she loved deeply.
