AUBURN

Taylor Depot went 3-for-3, drove in a run and scored a run as the Edward Little High School softball team held on for a 2-1 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over Mt. Ararat on Wednesday.

The Red Eddies (11-4) scored both of their runs in the opening frame for a 2-0 lead. Emmy Lashua opened the inning with a single and scored on Depot’s triple. Depot later scored on an error.

Mt. Ararat (8-7) cut the deficit in half in the fourth. Nataleigh Ormsby singled and scored on an RBI single by Alana Weaver.

But, EL pitcher Kylie Bureau held off the Eagles from there, finishing with an eight-hitter on four walks and six strikeouts.

Weaver also pitched well after the first, holding EL to seven hits and two walks. She struck out one.

Katelyn Cox was 2-for-4 for Mt. Ararat at the plate, while Belle Benner chipped in a pair of singles and Kayleigh Temple doubled.

Mt. Ararat hosts Brunswick on Tuesday at 4:15 p.m.

The visiting Greyhounds struck for five first-inning runs before putting up 13 in the fourth for a mercy rule Mountain Valley Conference win over the Wolverines.

Mallory Fairbanks, Jasmin Le and Ali Sult each pounded out three hits in the win, with Fairbanks coming up a home run shy of the cycle and driving in three runs. Le and Sult added a pair of RBIs each.

Lisbon (10-5) pitcher Alyssa Hall struck out eight, walked two and permitted just one hit, an Autumn Moore two-out single in the fourth.

Wiscasset (2-13) visits Oak Hill in its season finale on Friday at 4 p.m., while the Greyhounds host Mountain Valley on Friday at 4 p.m.

Baseball

AUBURN — Damien St. Pierre went the distance in Edward Little’s KVAC victory over Mt. Ararat.

St. Pierre struck out eight and allowed three hits and three walks.

Mt. Ararat starter Garrett Moody was solid, going the distance. He struck out two and walked two.

EL (14-1) scored a single run in the second, third, fourth and sixth innings. Tyler Blanchard had two hits, including a double, while Grant Hartley had a double.

Harper Moutal had a pair of hits for the Eagles (7-8), who host Brunswick on Tuesday at 4:15 p.m. Jake O’Neill chipped in a single.
