WATERVILLE — Megan Hixon struck out three, and Morse pounded out eight hits in a 4-2 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference high school softball victory over Waterville on Thursday.
The Shipbuilders, 1-4 and slated to host Belfast today and Maranacook on Saturday at 4:15 p.m., scored two runs in both the second and third innings for a 4-0 lead.
Jacelyn McNeill and Lucy Rawson each singled twice to lead Morse offensively, with Nichole Laggan adding a double, and Katie Henrikson, Hixon and Hannah Russell each singling.
Waterville (3-3) was paced by Danielle Jacques with three singles, with Jenna Gagnon singling twice and Hannah Allen picking up a single.
“Katie Henrikson played a great game at shortstop, and catcher Niesa Ryder threw out three of four base runners trying to steal,” said Morse coach Will Laffely.

Vikings pitcher Crystal West allowed just four hits as Oxford Hills (4-2) downed the 1-6 Dragons in KVAC action at South Paris.
Oxford Hills belted out 11 hits, including a home run by Bri Martin.
Ashley Howe pitched for Brunswick, which is slated to host rival Mt. Ararat today at 4 p.m. Mel Bryant, Jenna Libby, Olivia Salvail and Kelly Bridges each had a hit for the Dragons.

The 4-0 Bobcats scored seven runs in the first inning and 10 more in the second in picking up an East-West Conference win at Bingham.
Jamie Plummer singled three times, drove in two runs and pitched a two-hitter, with seven strikeouts. Danica Hurley and Brianna Snedeker each singled twice, while Alyssa Pearson had a single and double. Richmond, 4-0 and slated to host Vinalhaven on Monday at 2 p.m., pounded out 17 hits.
Teagan Lawyerson had both hits for 0-4 Valley.

The host Eddies answered Mt. Ararat’s three-run fifth inning with four runs in the bottom of the frame for a KVAC win at Auburn.
Danny Rock’s three-run triple gave Edward Little (2-4) a 4-3 lead, and Rock scored on a groundball. Kennedy Hubbard singled three times for the hosts, while Kory Norcross allowed 10 hits, struck out two and walked two.
Shauna Williams and Emily Dunn each singled three times for the Eagles, who are slated to visit Brunswick today. Mallory Nelson’s two-run triple in the fifth gave Mt. Ararat a 3-1 lead.
Kim Leslie took the loss, allowing 10 hits and one walk with five strikeouts.
