On Tuesday, June 3, 2014, The Times Record printed a story entitled “Hearing held for more McLellan money.” It attributed a statement to me that was incorrect: “Millett is disputing a local radio report that the McLellan Building renovations have cost Brunswick taxpayers $1 million, stating the cost has been ‘nowhere near’ that amount.” My reference to the statement on the radio responded to a remark about the total cost of the building renovations and acquisition of the McLellan building, not to just its renovations. And my statement that it was “nowhere near” that amount refers to the fact that the costs are much higher than just the renovations. A full accounting is promised soon.

I was assured on Tuesday that a correction would be in Wednesday’s paper, it was not, nor was it in Thursday’s paper. I called again and was referred to the managing editor who was away from his desk. There has been plenty of mis-information and mis-impression about this project from the beginning and a timely correction for such a significant discrepancy between what I stated and what you printed is, in my opinion, very important. You’ve now missed two opportunities to correct your error.
