AUGUSTA (AP) — Gov. Paul LePage has appointed the mayor of Auburn to lead an office that seeks to boost efficiency in state government.
The Republican governor said on Wednesday that Jonathan LaBonte has been appointed director of the Governor’s Office of Policy and Management.
Richard Rosen, who has led the office since 2012, is leaving to become acting commissioner of the Maine Department of Administration and Financial Services.
LaBonte became the youngest person to be elected mayor in the city’s history in 2011. He has also served as a county commissioner in Androscoggin County.
The Office of Policy and Management is charged with analyzing structures and functions across state government, delivering economic data and advising the governor improving financial management and proposed legislation’s impact on job creation.
