The opinion page of a newspaper is only as good as those contributing to it.

Many voices, offering different perspectives, inspire conversation and debate. Limited perspectives do not.

The Times Record’s opinion page is undergoing some changes in an effort to offer a wider array of opinions and commentary.

Local editorials, which have been a staple, have been missing this week, but that trend will not continue as they return next week.

We’re also planning to include some new columnists to create a more well-rounded opinion section in the newspaper. We have reached out to some folks, some have contacted us and our recruitment efforts are ongoing.

And that is our message to our readers: We want to hear your opinions. We’re seeking people to contribute to our opinion section on a regular basis. If you have a perspective on local and state issues you want others to hear, let us know. If you want to offer your personal experiences in the Mid- Coast region to our readership, let us know. Basically, if you’ve got something to say, let us know.

We’re willing to listen to all ideas and look forward to adding more new voices to our page.
