BATH — The Mt. Ararat Middle School eighth-grade baseball team opened its season on Thursday against rival Bath.
The Destroyers came away with a narrow 3-2 victory, scoring a run late to prevail.
Harper Moutal, Quinn Dutton, Shyheim Ulrickson and Shane Pennell pitched for the Eagles, combining on nine strikeouts.
Down 2-1, Ulrickson scored on a Wyatt Card single to tie the game. Ulrickson finished with two hits and the one run scored.
Defensively, Alex Miranda was solid at third base, throwing two runners out at first on difficult plays. He also made the tag on a Bath steal attempt, with catcher Darren Thiboutot making the throw.
