TOPSHAM — The Mt. Ararat Middle School seventh-grade softball team beat Oxford Hills, 5-4 on Friday.
The Eagles’ offense was powered by Gabby Head, who reached base three times, while Holly Temple, Ainsley Bryant and Breanne McCrout each reached base twice, and Riley Robinson scored twice.
The game was tied 1-1 after two innings, the Eagles led 2-1 after four and Mt. Ararat put up three in the home half of the fifth. Oxford Hills answered with three runs in the sixth.
Temple, who pitched the whole game, made the lead hold up in the top of the seventh by retiring the final out with her seventh strikeout. She walked two and the 3-4 Eagles played standout defense.
