TOPSHAM — The Mt. Ararat High School boys lacrosse team opened its season Friday with a 9-6 win over Messalonskee.
Jonathan Brown led the way with three goals and an assist, while Nick Oram had two goals and three assists, Josh Richards a goal and assist, Jeremy Hart two goals and Evan Whidden a goal.
Eagles goaltender Ed Maguire had 11 stops and the hosts led 5-1, 6-4 and 8-4 at the breaks.
Nate DelGuidice paced Messalonskee with two goals and three assists and Luke Vigue added two scores and an assist, while goaltender Dylan Clark made 17 saves.

In South Paris on Friday, Cameron Glover scored four goals and assisted on another to lead the Dragons, who are scheduled to visit Messalonskee on Wednesday ( 11 a.m.,) and host Mt. Ararat on Friday 96;30 p.m.).
In Brunswick’s season opener, Alex Croatti added two goals and two assists and Winston Sullivan a goal and two assists.
Other Brunswick scorers included Nick Mrvichin (1-1), Bailey Caparratto (1-1), Elliot Boyd (1-1), Seth Holmblad (0- 2), Tom Purinton (1-0), Sam Fortin (1-0), George Rowe (1- 0), Matt Brooks (1-0), Lucas McCue (0-1) and Chris Snyder (0-1),.
Goaltenders James Wilgus and Chris Mrvichin combined on six saves,
“It was a very good opener, lots of possession,” said Brunswick coach Don Glover, who praised the defensive work turned in by Sam Bessey, Blake Bodwell, Charlie Nau and Nick Toole.
