
He was born in Brunswick, Maine, on June 10,1034, the son of the late Ludger and Laura (Bard) Fortin. He grew up in Brunswick, attended St. John’s Catholic School and graduated from Brunswick High School in 1953. He joined the U. S. Navy and served on the ice breaker EDISTO in Greenland and Iceland. Upon his discharge he went to the Coyne Electrical & Technical School in Boston. He began working as an
Electrical Designer in Mass. and later joined the Harriman Architectural firm in Auburn.
He retired after 41 years at Harriman’s as an Electrical Engineer. He was a charter member of IES of North America for which he served as Secretary-Treasurer, Vice-President, and President.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, sharing many memories with his son.He helped his daughters build or remodel their homes. He loved the natural world and made sure that he took care of his share of Mother Earth. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish in Sabattus.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline Levasseur Fortin, of Sabattus whom he married on September 1, 1956; his children: Catherine (Roger) Chaisson of Saco, Anne Horne of Lewiston, Rachel Fortin of Sebago, and Paul of Woolwich. He also leaves nine grandchildren and one expected great-grandson in September; a sister, Prudence (Robert) Brandenburg of California, several nieces, nephews, and their spouses.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Fulgence and Regis, sister Gloria, niece Stella, nephew Steve, and his fishing buddy, Bob.

Funeral services honoring Reginald’s life will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday May 3rd at Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home
Committal prayers to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery concluding with military honors.
