AUBURN — Mt. Ararat Middle School’s eighthgrade baseball team traveled to Auburn on Thursday and prevailed, 13-7.
The Eagles exploded in the first inning, scoring six runs. Ryan Mello had a single in the first.
Auburn came back and scored one in the second, one in the third and one in the fourth.
The Eagles’ bats came alive again in the fourth inning, with singles by Garrett Moody, Nate Leslie and Cam Grant. Kyle Brennan had a double in the frame.
In the top of the seventh, Mt. Ararat added three more runs on hits by Nick Merrill, Blair Kopp, Cole Kelly and Grant.
Ryan Glass, Grant, Kopp and Merrill took turns on the mound, while Grant, Moody and Kopp turned a 5- 4-3 double play.
