DURHAM — On Friday, Durham voters elected municipal officers, including three write-in candidates.
Joshua Libby won a seat on the Board of Selectmen as a write-in candidate with 27 votes.
Terry Kirk was re-elected to the Budget Committee with 132 votes. Joining him will be write-in candidates Charles “Chuck” Pollock, who garnered 10 votes, and Arthur Langley, who received three votes.
Incumbent Candace Decsipkes was re-elected to the Regional School Unit 5 board of directors with 131 votes.
Pauline Paradis was re-elected to the positions of tax collector and treasurer with 155 votes for each. Paradis, who announced she will retire next year after 25 years working for the town, was awarded a legislative sentiment for her service at the start of the annual town meeting Saturday.
Both treasurer and tax collector positions will be appointed positions following Paradis’ retirement, as a result of voters approving Articles 37 and 38 Saturday. Selectman Jeffrey Wakeman said at the town meeting that selectmen plan at this point to hire one person to do the jobs, adding there may be a restructuring at the town office.
