BATH — Smith-Tobey Post bested BMDA 15-4 and toppled the Lisbon County Credit Union 5-0 in recent Cal Ripken Baseball action.
Smith-Tobey 15, BMDA 4
In Major Division action, Asa Hodgdon and Kaleb Jackson of Smith-Tobey both had a breakout game, pitching two solid innings each with Hodgdon recording six strikeouts and Jackson five.
Jackson also had three singles and Hodgdon two hits to set the pace for the winners. The Smith-Tobey offense was in high gear with Isaak Flaming going 3- for-3 with a double and two triples, Jackson Walker two doubles and a triple, Thomas Warren two doubles and Josiah Yeaton chipped in with a single.
For BMDA, Sam Sinibaldi, Cam Footer and Joey Cholish each doubled, and Gavin Phillips had a nice single in the loss.
Smith-Tobey 5, Lisbon 0
Again the County Credit Union, Smith-Tobey relied on solid pitching from Warren and Walker, with each striking out five in two innings, while the offense banged out 12 hits.
Flaming hit his first-ever home run in his first at-bat before being removed from the game after being struck on the side of the head on a line drive while pitching.
Nicco Bartone chipped in with a home run and a triple, while Wade Bradford and Hodgdon had two singles each, and Billy Riley, Sam Kirkpatrick and Brogan Shaw a single each, Lucas Ouimette a double and Warren with a triple.
Cam Bourget had the only hit for Lisbon, a single in the fourth inning.
BIW 13, Montsweag 5
On Tuesday, BIW came up with another win, as Thomas Guild and Ty Knowlton each had two hits. Kyle Fredricks, Quintin Webster, Kaleb Mcphail and Kiernan Mann chipped in with a hit each.
Pitching was led by Kaleb McPhail, Sawyer Stead and Guild with eight strikeouts. The catchers were Knowlton, Guild and Webster. Alex Potter, Kyle Fredricks and Gabe Aucoin made standout defensive plays, while outfielders Henry Kerr, Lucas Quimby, Wyatt Wallace and Dylan Potter played well.
For Montsweag Roadhouse, pitchers Aiden Wyman and Robin Krull had four strikeouts, while Ethan Reno fanned one and tagged out a runner at home plate, assisted by catcher Andrew Card. Tyler McCarren and Campbell Wyman also played well behind the plate
Dominic Hood had two hits and a run, Jonah Smith a hit, run, and two RBIs, Wyman a hit, run and RBI, Robin Hood had a run and Reno a run.
Outfielders Jonah Smith, David Brown, Aqil Alaboudi and Tanner Munsey stood out defensively.
