BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College will host a special art symposium Thursday titled, “Bowdoin Women in the Visual Arts.”
The one-day event will feature alumnae who work in art fields sharing their “insights and stories that shed light on the myriad contributions of women to the visual arts,” according to a press release.
The speakers will include: Halley K. Harrisburg ’90, director of the Michael Rosenfeld Gallery in New York; Matilda McQuaid ’79, deputy curatorial director and head of textiles at Cooper Hewitt, National Design Museum; Mara W. Sprafkin ’ 02, artist; and Melanie A. Taylor ’94, director of exhibition design at the Guggenheim Museum.
The event begins at 4 p.m. Thursday in Kresge Auditorium in the college’s Visual Arts Center.
