AUGUSTA (AP) — A man who participated in the Occupy Augusta demonstration has been sentenced to jail for threatening a man with a knife.

Anthony Williams pleaded guilty Monday in Kennebec County Superior Court to criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon.

The Kennebec Journal reports that he was sentenced to three years in jail, with all but seven months suspended. Because he has already spent four months behind bars since his arrest in October, he will be eligible for release in three months.

Police say the 27-year-old Williams was at a gas station about a mile from the protest site in October when he asked the other man for a ride. The victim told police when he told Williams no, Williams threatened him with a knife.
