WASHINGTON (AP) — Matt Niskanen and the NHL’s top power play unit cashed in as the Washington Capitals outlasted the youthful and over-matched Toronto Maple Leafs.

DETROIT (AP) — Patrick Kane had a goal and an assist 1:24 apart on power plays in the second period, and Artemi Panarin scored twice to help the Chicago Blackhawks rout the Detroit Red Wings.
Kane finished with three points, extending his NHL leading total to 88.
