BATH — Tyler Young of Woolwich, a senior at Morse High School, has been selected to receive the 2016 Principal’s Award. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’
Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement, citizenship and leadership.
“Throughout his years at Morse High School, Tyler has distinguished himself in the classroom, on the playing field, and as a leader in the school and the community,” Morse Principal Jay Pinkerton said. “He very much deserves this recognition.”
Tyler, Pinkerton and other award winners and their principals will attend an Honors Luncheon at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor on April 2 at 12:30 p.m.
The Honors Luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of ten $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler. McGowan and Tyler were former Maine principals and executive directors of the Association. The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association that represents Maine’s school administrators.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
