BOSTON, Mass. — The Bowdoin College indoor track and field team enjoyed a record-setting weekend at the Valentine’s Invitational hosted by Boston University on Friday and Saturday.
The men’s distance medley relay team (Coby Horowitz, Matt Gamache, Colin Fong, and Matt Hillard) and Elsa Millet in the 400 meters turned in NCAA Division IIIleading performances. The DMR relay team is ranked No. 1 in the country this week after their time of 9:49.27, and Millet has the fastest time for the women’s 400 (55.68).
This is the first time Bowdoin has had two national list-leading performances in the same week since Joan Benoit graduated in 1979.
Meanwhile, Matt Hillard ran a time of 2:28.57 in the 1,000 meters to set a school record as well.
In a field loaded with Division I programs, the men’s DMR team placed first overall. Millett took fifth while Hillard ran in 11th.
