MILLINOCKET (AP) — A Maine man has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of an infant last year.
Authorities arrested 33- year-old Jessee Mackin of Millinocket on Wednesday night after a jury indicted him in the death of 6-month-old Larry Lord Jr.
The child was the son of Mackin’s girlfriend. He died on May 7, 2015, after his mother took him to a Bangor hospital.
Authorities say the infant’s death has been under investigation by state police and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency for the past eight months.
The baby was the son of 35-year-old Anthony Lord, who is accused of kidnapping a woman and killing two men in separate shootings.
Mackin was expected to make a court appearance Thursday or Friday. It wasn’t immediately known if he has an attorney. A message was left at a listed phone number.
