
He was born in Brunswick, on February 15, 1939 the son of Geoffrey and Mable Eastman Bernier. He was a graduate of Freeport High School. Richard worked for Pitney Bowes as a service representative and eventually retired from there. In 1988, he married Lorraine Demers Cote. He enjoyed collecting toy trains, old radios, and would restore them.
Richard is survived by his wife Lorraine of Poland, a daughter Rhoda Parker and her husband Trevor of Hilo, Hawaii, a son Aaron Bernier and his wife Vanessa of Gray, two stepsons Kevin Cote of Lewiston and Matthew Cote of Auburn, one stepdaughter Rebecca Libby of Mechanic Falls, one sister Nancy Volk of Palm Desert, CA, one brother Joseph Bernier and his wife Ivy of Freeport, one stepsister Carol Condon and her husband David of Arizona, seventeen grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
There are no visiting hours scheduled.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday February 11 at 2:00 P.M. in the Lindquist Funeral Home 1 Mayberry Lane in Yarmouth. Interment will be in the spring at Burr Cemetery in Freeport. On line condolences can be made to Richard’s family at www.lindquistfuneralhome.com.
