NICK HOMAN, a Scout from Brunswick Troop 648, tackles the challenge of Ice Climbing at Scouting’s New England Base Camp near Milton, Massachusetts, recently. “What we were doing two weeks ago with rock-climbing gear just was not the same. You don’t have the same holds and the temps — even in the sun — were a whole lot colder,” said scout leader Jon Giles. “But the base camp staff gave us the coaching we needed and the Scouts had energy and persistence. They all had a great sense of satisfaction when they were able to reach the top.”
