TOPSHAM — Holding a slim 39-36 lead through three quarters, the Mt. Ararat Middle School eighth-grade boys basketball team pitched a fourth-quarter shutout in a 60- 36 victory over rival Brunswick Junior High on Thursday.
The Eagles, who improved to 7-3, led 16-9 after a quarter and 26-20 at the half.
Shy Ulrickson paced the victors with 22 points. Alex LaFountain and Harper Moutal each chipped in 13, while Sean McMullen added six points. Eddie Van Note was solid on defense, and the Eagles were 12 of 19 at the line.
Cat Gorston had a teamhigh 12 points for the Huskies, while Reid Foster had seven and Ben Lord six. Brunswick finished nine of 14 at the charity stripe.
