Recently, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright has said there is a “special place in hell” for women who do not support other women. She has been saying this for years, true, but in this recent instance she was scolding women who do not support Hillary Clinton for President and instead support Bernie Sanders.
I would like to remind women of another quote, almost forgotten, by Ms. Albright.
May 12, 1996, on “60 Minutes” she was being interviewed by Lesley Stahl. Lesley Stahl asked about the 567,000 Iraqi children under the age of five who died as a result of the Iraqi sanctions.
Here are the direct quotes:
Lesley Stahl: “We have heard that a half million children have died. I mean, that’s more children than died in Heroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?”
Secretary of State Madeleine Albright: “I think this is a very hard choice, but the price — we think the price is worth it.”
Ms. Albright’s words cause me to wonder just who this “special place in hell” is reserved for.
