BRUNSWICK — The Bowdoin College men’s and women’s soccer teams have earned Team Academic Awards from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for their work in the classroom.

Bowdoin was one of just three NESCAC schools to have both its men’s and women’s team exceed the 3.0 cumulative team GPA for 2011, joining Middlebury and Tufts for the prestigious distinction. Across all divisions of the NCAA, the Polar Bears were one of 161 teams to earn the honor for both squads.

Under the direction of Fran O’Leary, the Bowdoin men posted a team GPA of 3.29 while the women, coached by Maren Rojas, earned a team GPA of 3.18.
