“We took good care of the ball and finished our shots,” said Wiscasset coach Dana Lawrence, whose team visits Hall-Dale on Friday at 7 p.m.
The Wolverines jumped out to a 22-9 lead in the first quarter, extended the advantage to 35- 20 at the half and 55- 35 through three quarters.
Devin Grover chipped in 12 points, Jordan Jones picked up 10 points and dished out seven assists, and Austin Haskell led the Wiscasset defense with four steals. The Wolverines were six of 12 from the line.
Tyler Hupper paced the Roadrunners with 17 points, with Ian Jones adding nine. Mt. Abram finished 10 of 17 from the charity stripe.The host Roadrunners held Wiscasset to just three second half points en route to an MVC win at Strong.
After falling behind 10- 7 after a quarter, Wiscasset clawed to within a point, 21- 20, at the half. But, Mt. Abram (3-3) pulled away in the third, taking a 31- 22 lead to the fourth quarter.
Kayla Connors led the 0-6 Wolverines, who visit Hall- Dale on Thursday, with 14 points.
“It was a hotly contested first half, but foul trouble made it difficult to handle heavy pressure in the third quarter,” said Wiscasset coach Patrick Quinn, whose team was 10 of 14 from the foul line.
Miranda Smith paced the Roadrunners with 17 points, with Mikayla Luce chipping in seven and Jill Howard six points.
