BRUNSWICK — Caleb Cost and Taran Payne scored 15 points each, and Josh Dorr added 14 as the Brunswick High School jayvee boys basketball team downed Lewiston 54-49 on Monday, giving the Dragons a 3-1 start to their season.
Brunswick was 20 of 27 from the free-throw line, including several key makes in the fourth quarter to hold off the Blue Devils.
In recent action, the Dragons dropped their first game, falling to Edward Little, 45-40, in overtime. Dorr had 10, Cost eight, while Owen Rudalevidge and Ben Lord chipped in six points and four rebounds each.
Brunswick bounced back at Hampden Academy, rolling to a 40-30 victory. Cost had a game-high 14 points, with Rudalevidge adding eight points, and Dorr and Payne six each. Rudalevidge and Alan Molnar were solid defensively, with each pulling down five caroms.
“I am proud of my guys,” said Brunswick coach Adam Caron, whose squad visits Oxford Hills on Thursday. “With each game, my players are getting better by being able to control the ball when executing our offense and being aggressive and tough on defense.”
