AUBURN (AP) — A single member of Maine’s highest court has upheld a lower court’s ruling and denied bail to a Greene man facing a murder charge.

Nathan Morton is charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and hindering apprehension or prosecution in connection with the April killing of Romeo Parent.

Morton’s lawyer argued his client should be granted bail because he is not a flight risk and could live with his parents. He has also cooperated with authorities.

Associate Justice Ellen Gorman agreed with a lower court “that Morton is likely to commit additional criminal conduct if released.”

Authorities say Morton drove Parent and another man to a secluded area, where the other man stabbed and strangled Parent because he had told to police about a burglary.
